Task
Read the text in "EN-RC-2.1 Basic features of database programs" and complete the tasks.
Aim
1. I can write down the words i don't know and guess what their meaning is.
2. I can complete the sentences given in the lernjob
3. I can complete the puzzle given in the lernjob.
Self-evaluation
It was a rater easy task which didn't take longer than 20 minutes. In the first task, i had to write down words i didn't know. But since there were none featured in the text, i had no words to showcase.
1. Using the information in the text, complete the statements.
1. A database is used to store, organize and retrieve a large collection of related information.
2. Information is entered on a database via fields.
3. Each field holds a seperate piece of information.
4. 'Updating' a file means change fields, add new records or delete old ones.
5. The advantages of a database program over a manual filing system are faster and easier consultation and updating.
6. Access to a common database can be protected by using security devices.
2. Puzzle
1. In order to personalize a standard letter, you can use mail merging.
2. Records can be automatically sorted into any order.
3. You can decide how many fields you want to have on a record.
4. Files can easily be updated by adding new information or deleting the old one.
5. A database programm can be used to store, organize and retrieve information of any kind.
6. The layout of the records can be designed by the user.
7. Each piece of information is given in a separate field.
